I sealed this one old echo tremolo of my, double sided with linseed oil. The oil never really hardened like a lacquer. Now, the interesting thing is, that I play the G side a lot and the wood has swelled to this wonderful, perfect convexness on top and the harp itself is very air tight. The oil keeps enough moisture out so it doesn't swell too much and lets it escape slowly enough that it maintains the perfect amount of swelling.

I thought that was cool, so I'm passing it on.

I use this on a lot of wood combs especially chromatics. What I'm using now is what I call Elk River Oil... it's 9 parts medicinal mineral oil and one part peppermint oil. The mineral oil you find in the pharmacy and the peppermint in grocery stores.
